These rare collector figurines, (salt and pepper), are from the designs by artist Betty Herrington, Madison, Wisconsin. She designed them in the 1940's after the release of the film, "The Elephant Boy." The elephant, Kala Nog, is 8" high, and Toomai, who was played by actor Sabu, is 2" high. The original cork stoppers are inside of the figurines.
The elephant figurine can be found for sale, but the figurine Toomai is very difficult to locate. These were an original pair.
There is crazing on the elephant and wear on Toomai, including a chip in the back of his head.

Elephant Boy is a 1937 British adventure film starring Sabu in his film debut.[2] Documentary filmmaker Robert J. Flaherty, who produced some of the Indian footage, and supervising director Zoltan Korda, who completed the film, won the Best Director Award at the Venice Film Festival. The film was made at the London Films studios at Denham, and in Mysore, India, and is based on the story "Toomai of the Elephants" from Rudy
